ICEBREAKER

 


I started this book thinking about how I wanted to read in the year 2025... This was my first book of 2025, but it took me this long to finish.. This wasn't the fault of the book though, rather, I was busy and picked it up at the wrong time.. Anyway, I finished it now, and here is the review.. 

My goal for 2025 was to read more contemporary novels, and this book has more than a million ratings on Goodreads.. It wouldn't be enough to tell that it is hyped... 

Firstly, I don't read to many "good" contemporary novels.. Most books I read were trashy novels.. These were really fun tbh... 

This book is based on a new adult romance.. Author Hanna Grace's first book in the series of MAPLE HILLS.. Firstly, I didn't have very good experiences with romance series in the past, so I was a little hesitant about that, but then I pushed through my mental boundaries and started reading it.. 

This book is based on a college-going girl, who is a pair figure skater, and a boy, the captain of the ice hockey team... The girl being the textbook "ESTJ" personality type, is always making lists, and keeping feelings at bay, trying to make the most out of the time she has, to qualify for the Olympics.. Both of them are sleeping around, hooking up, and working hard for their sports stuff... 

Frenemies, would not be appropriate for the trope of this book, neither is enemies to lovers, but this book qualifies for both, and even more... 

Anastacia is a strong woman with a spine, who doesn't just take bullshit, but also can take revenge when needed and she can stand up for herself.. But the good thing is that she knows how to adjust, she is smart, so she knows when to not fight, and just adjust to the shitty circumstance bcz that is for her own career... 

Nathaniel is a hardworking, and really fun-loving person.. He is a perfect captain for his hockey team.. He is the type of person who would take all the blame for other's faults, for the sake of the team, even if it hampers his own sports career... Ya.. So they both are quite different.. 

The love between them starts without any of them wanting it to start, and blossoms like a beautiful flower... Nathaniel is the man written by women.. He is the perfect man ever.. And the small moments they have, and the small gestures, drive this book to be one of the best.. 

I give this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think the side characters are too flat, and they don't have much depth, which is quite common with these kinds of books, where friends are all really nice and they are always loving and happy with the main female character and they just love them.. But I hope it is bcz the author wrote other books about these characters later on, so she wanted them to also be stand-alone.. 

Anyway, this is a good book.. Everyone should give it a try..

THE SHADOW PRINCES: ZODIAC ACADEMY

  The fourth book in ZODIAC ACADEMY series is THE SHADOW PRINCES.. I read the ebook version, and it was 771 pages long.. but i didn't even felt a little bit of bored.. which says a lot about this book.. and by far this is my favourite book in the series.. now lets talk about things in details.. 1. lance blue romance is blossoming in this series.. although the relationship was quite strong in the previous book as well, but honestly it felt more lust than love... but in this book we get several moments of them talking and getting to know each other, which is very very romantic in my eyes.. there is a moment in which lance and darcy sit together in the couch in his living room, and they just talk.. they talk about his feelings and her feelings, which we didn't get to see very much previously.. there is another moment when lance takes darcy to a date in his ancestral home, and they spend the afternoon, eating together, and talking about their life, and just exploring his house.. th...
